Fees and Donations

Fees and Donations

By enrolling your child(ren) at Chanel College you have indicated your wish to provide them with a Catholic and Marist-Brigidine education. As an integrated school, Chanel College receives funding from the Government, but the operating grant does not cover all the costs of providing a well-rounded special character education.

The fees below are correct at the time of publishing and are annually reviewed by the Board of Trustees. The School reserves the right to adjust the fees when necessary.

Voluntary School Donation

These donations play a significant part in funding some of the operating costs of the College. The Government funding only provides funds for basic resources. This donation is used for additional learning materials for all areas, for maintaining and upgrading our computer network and digital resources, and to assist with sports and cultural activities.

The donation has been reviewed and, as mentioned by Nicola Murray in the Board of Trustees’ newsletter in February 2019, this has been set in line with our contributing schools. The annual donation is now $80 for one child, $140 for two children and $180 for three or more. It will be charged as follows:

First student in family $80.00

Second child $60.00

Third child $40.00

The school donation is a voluntary tax deductable donation.

Tax Rebate

33.3% of the voluntary school donation can be claimed back from the Government as a tax rebate by using the IR526 form (available by downloading from http://www.ird.govt.nz/). Donation receipts will be emailed out in early April.

Special Character Donation

This donation was previously called the RE (Religious Education) Donation. It is now $25.00 per student per year. It is used to support the Catholic character of the school including payment of the RE Curriculum Development Levy charged by The Catholic Institute of Aotearoa-New Zealand, which supports delivery of the RE curriculum. Monthly Invoices The first invoices for the year were sent out in March 2019. Thank you to those who have paid and those who have automatic payments already operating. We recommend that families set up a weekly or fortnightly automatic payment to the school. This spreads the cost across the year and enables it to fit more easily into the family budget.

The school bank account details are:

Sports Fees

By giving permission for your son/daughter to play in a Chanel College sports team you agree to pay the relevant sports fee. These fees will be forwarded to you in a parent permission form, prior to the season commencing. Please note that the sport fee is due in full within one month of the sport competition beginning.

Attendance Dues

Attendance Dues are invoiced to caregivers from the Archdiocese of Wellington and payment must be made directly to their bank account (refer to their invoice). These funds are used to pay the loans, cost of building improvements and insurance premiums for Catholic school buildings in the Wellington region. Attendance Dues do not contribute to the day to day operational costs of Chanel College.
