Kaitiakitanga mo te Taiao / Caring for our Environment
At Chanel College, we are very fortunate to be living in a beautiful region and learning in an environment with spacious grounds, a clean running stream that goes the length of the property, trees and gardens, all nestled beneath the majestic Tararua Ranges. As a Catholic school, we strive to create a sense of resilience, purpose, engagement and optimism about the future.
We are already on a pathway to become a more environmentally sustainable school. We are actively looking after our school environment by looking after our grounds and the stream. We weed, remove rubbish, clear areas, tend to plants and much more. Our next step is to expand the sustainable solutions we want to put in place at Chanel College.
We have an active and enthusiastic Kaitiakitanga group at Chanel College, supported by staff enviro-champions.
Mā wai hei tiaki a Papatuanuku? Who will look after Mother Earth?
Mā tātou! We all will!
