Mathematics is the exploration and use of patterns and relationships in quantities, space, and time. Statistics is the exploration and use of patterns and relationships in data. These two disciplines are related but different ways of thinking and of solving problems. Both equip students with effective means for investigating, interpreting, explaining, and making sense of the world in which they live.
Mathematicians and statisticians use symbols, graphs, and diagrams to help them find and communicate patterns and relationships, and they create models to represent both real-life and hypothetical situations. These situations are drawn from a wide range of social, cultural, scientific, technological, health, environmental, and economic contexts.

## Mathematics Level 1

Mathematics follows on from Year 10 and looks at a range of meaningful contexts to engage in thinking mathematically and statistically. Students will solve problems and model situations that require them to use and develop their understanding of Number, Measurement, Shape and Space, and to reason, analyse, and report using Algebra, Geometry, Statistics and Probability.

## Mathematics and Calculus Level 2

Mathematics and Statistics follows on from Level 1 and looks at a range of meaningful contexts to engage in thinking mathematically and statistically. Students will solve problems and model situations that require them to use and develop their understanding of Number, Measurement, Shape and Space and to reason, analyse, and report using Algebra, Geometry, Statistics and Probability.

## Mathematics with Statistics Level 2

This course is for students who want to pursue Statistics as a subject in Year 13. Students will also be provided opportunity to complete a module in financial literacy. This module will be assessed against a selection of Unit Standards.

## Mathematics with Statistics Level 3 & Scholarship

Time Series, Sample Statistics, Simultaneous Equations, Statistical Investigation, Probability Distributions and Modelling.

## Mathematics with Calculus Level 3 & Scholarship

Pure Mathematics including Algebra, Differentiation, Integration and Trigonometry.
