Geography Level 1

Geography offers students the opportunity to make better sense of the world around them and helps them make more valued judgements on local and global issues. Delivered via a blended approach it will also offer opportunity for student, should they chose, to gain an understanding of agricultural and horticultural science. Geography leads to a variety of careers - landscape architecture, town planning, resource management, parks and recreation employment, teaching, tourism and surveying. Assessment standards will be selected to suit the student interest and abilities.

Geography Level 2

Geography is delivered via a blended approach. Some of the topics studied are student’s choice in consultation with the teacher. Students who are interested in people and places enjoy Geography. Year 12 Geography provides a good basis for NCEA Level Three Geography in Year 13. Geography is an integrative subject, which leads to a number of careers, e.g. town planning, architecture, forestry, surveying, many areas within tourism, teaching and resource management. Assessment standards will be selected  to suit the student interest and abilities. 

Geography Level 3 & Scholarship 

 Geography is delivered via a blended approach. Some of the topics examined are student’s choice in consultation with the teacher. Geography is a subject which involves elements of Economics, Biology, Sociology, English and Mathematics and consequently leads to a wide range of career possibilities, e.g. town planning, architecture, landscape architecture, teaching, parks and recreation, tourism, surveying, forestry and so on. Some of these are employment opportunities straight from school and others involve tertiary training. Assessment standards will be selected to suit the student interest and abilities.
